Last Year, Over 220 Individuals Comprising Over 50 Families Came to Freedom House Seeking Shelter and Resources

Each family that comes to Freedom House Ministries brings a unique set of challenges that led to their housing crisis. These stories often involve a complex interplay of factors such as unexpected financial hardships, personal setbacks, health issues, or unforeseen life events.

Our approach is holistic and individualized. We work closely with each family to uncover and address the underlying causes of their homelessness. Through supportive programs and compassionate guidance, we help residents process past difficulties and develop resilience.

Our goal is to ensure that by the time families transition to a life of independence, they are not just housed, but truly empowered. We equip them with life skills, emotional tools, and a renewed sense of self-belief. This comprehensive support aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty and homelessness, setting families on a path towards lasting stability and independence.

The Families Behind Homelessness

As the affordable housing crisis deepens, an alarming number of families find themselves experiencing homelessness. The scarcity of reasonably priced housing, coupled with unreasonable wages and rising living expenses, has created a perfect storm that threatens the stability of countless households.

This dire situation leaves many parents and children grappling with the constant uncertainty of where they’ll find their next meal or lay their heads at night. There is an urgent need for comprehensive solutions to address families experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in our community.

At Freedom House we believe, through Christ, families will transform their lives with love and compassion. We will speak truth into their lives—honoring dignity, spreading love, and valuing their worth as a human being. Each person is created in the image of God.

Families experiencing homelessness are human beings, in their own unique circumstances, and by providing customized services they will achieve independence. We have been doing it, thanks to partners like you, since 1991.

You can help

Ready to Strengthen Your Community?

Brown County is home to over 200 families experiencing homelessness each day. That equates to over 600 individuals living in an unstable environment. Of the vulnerable families we serve every day:

63%

are children without a permanent home

50%

have an underlying physical or mental health condition

76%

identify as people of color, underscoring societal inequities

70%

of families previously lived in a place not meant for human habitation

Homelessness Is a Temporary Circumstance, Not a Permanent Condition by Choice

It could happen to you, a loved one or anyone in the blink of an eye. No human being deserves to suffer from pain, hunger, and uncertainty.

Your support will change the lives of families every day. Thank you for partnering with us to disrupt the trajectory of homelessness forever.
