We celebrate an extraordinary group of women who have been the heartbeat of Freedom House for nearly 20 years. Congratulations Lunch Friends on winning the Small Group Award at the annual Wisconsin Public Service Volunteer Awards. Every Wednesday, without fail, the beloved Lunch Friends have shown up with open hearts and homemade meals, creating a space where families facing housing insecurity feel truly seen and valued.
For two decades, these incredible volunteers have transformed Wednesdays into something special. They’ve carefully prepared nutritious meals, accommodated dietary needs, and served each plate with dignity, respect, and genuine connection.
Their commitment goes far beyond food. In each conversation, each smile, and each thoughtful gesture, the Lunch Friends have woven a tapestry of community that wraps around our residents like a warm embrace.
To our wonderful Lunch Friends: Your consistency, compassion, and dedication have created waves of positivity that have lifted countless families through difficult times. You’ve shown us all that the most powerful acts of service are those sustained with love over time.
